At the end of this year, my work will be on display in a solo exhibition at Pictura in Groningen in the upper room. The emphasis will be on what I have created in recent years. In addition, I will be showing work from earlier series. This year marks 20 years since I graduated, and looking forward to this exhibition, you can already see here what I have been creating during this period. Starting with a few paintings from 2005, the year in which I completed my studies at the art academy in Arnhem and received a start-up grant from the Mondriaan Fund. I had a wonderful time at ArtEZ; it was fantastic to be offered so many different subjects, techniques and knowledge, which set all kinds of things in motion. It was also challenging, with all those different opinions about what you were doing, but they did help you progress. Receiving a grant was a huge boost, which really helped me on my way.
My administration was a little less accurate back then than it is now, and not all formats were noted at the time. I made my own frames on which I stretched canvas, which explains the different size compared to the first painting.
