In 2020, in addition to the series of postcards, I also worked on other paintings. The news about toilet paper hoarding during the coronavirus pandemic prompted me to revisit the toilet roll as a subject. The title of one of these paintings, “I wish I were two little dogs”, comes from an adaptation of a poem by Godfried Bomans from 1947. Very appropriate during a lockdown:
I sit in front of the window pane
utterly bored.
I wish I were two little dogs,
then I could play together.
